Madhya Pradesh Sets Stage for Union Carbide Waste Management Trials

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has greenlit the state government's request to initiate a trial run for managing Union Carbide's hazardous waste. According to Advocate General Prashant Singh, a compliance affidavit was submitted by the government today to secure this authorization.
Singh assured the public that the government would adhere strictly to the court's guidelines, ensuring public safety during the trial process. Scheduled in three phases, the first trial is set for February 27, followed by the next phases on March 4 and subsequently.
Results from these trials will be forwarded to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for assessment. Singh emphasized that public safety is paramount, with the CPCB's guidelines set to be presented to the court on March 27. The government remains committed to the safe management of waste in accordance with court directives and CPCB expertise.
