Tragic Cloudbursts in Jammu and Kashmir: 68 Dead as Rescue Efforts Intensify

After devastating cloudbursts struck Kathua and Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta confirmed a tragic toll, with at least seven fatalities in Kathua and a rising death count in Kishtwar.
Speaking with ANI, Gupta assured the public of comprehensive support from the government for victims' families. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed officials to leave no stone unturned in relief efforts. Shah communicated via social media, confirming a proactive and supportive stance by the central government.
The natural disaster caused flash floods and landslides, notably damaging infrastructure in Kathua, and leaving the national highway and railway tracks impaired. In an alarming report, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo announced 61 confirmed deaths in Kishtwar, alongside 116 individuals safe thanks to active rescue missions by security forces and agencies like CISF, J&K Police, and the Indian Army.
