Centre's Bold Move: Rs 15,000 Crore Boost for Farmers in Four States

The Centre approved a Rs 15,000 crore plan to procure pulses and oilseeds from farmers in Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh for the Kharif 2025-26 season. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's initiative aims to boost agricultural production and secure farmers' income.

The Indian government has greenlit a significant procurement plan, valued at over Rs 15,000 crore, to support farmers across four key states: Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh. This strategic move aims to acquire pulses and oilseeds during the Kharif 2025-26 season.

Approved by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the plan targets a total procurement of moong, urad, soybean, and arhar. The initiative falls under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan and other notable schemes. Chouhan emphasized the comprehensive benefits to lakhs of farmers, securing better product returns.

The procurement zones are split across the four states, with detailed allocations such as 4,430 tonnes of moong from Telangana, 18,470 tonnes of arhar from Odisha, and substantial soybean approvals in both Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. With a focus on boosting agricultural output and farmer income, Chouhan assures this will further the goal of a self-reliant India.
