The Lucknow Municipal Corporation initiated a campaign on Saturday targeting unlicensed dog walkers in Indira Nagar, Zone 7, focusing on public awareness about pet safety instead of imposing penalties, according to officials.
This campaign, implemented under the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner and the department head for Animal Welfare, Rajesh Upadhyay, is designed to encourage timely pet vaccinations and adherence to municipal guidelines for public safety.
During the campaign, two individuals were fined for walking dogs without valid licenses. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has directed various state departments, including Chhattisgarh's Education Department, to monitor and address the issues of stray animals near schools and public areas, to prevent incidents similar to a recent one that caused significant food spoilage and financial loss.
