The establishment of a CRPF camp at Gogunda Hill in the insurgency-plagued Sukma district of Chhattisgarh marks a defining moment in the area's battle against Naxal influence. This strategic move has breathed new life into the region, once deemed inaccessible and dominated by Maoists for nearly four decades.
For the first time since independence, road construction has begun here, made possible by the presence of the 74th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force. The once-impossible task of linking this remote area to the outside world is underway, overcoming the daunting terrain of towering slopes and dense forests.
Security forces face significant challenges, including IED blasts that injured three personnel. The change has been profound, as Naxals, witnessing their former sanctuary being transformed, are reportedly seeking to surrender. The local tribal population now sees a future filled with access to vital infrastructure and government schemes.
