In a groundbreaking announcement at the Global Energy Leaders' Summit 2025, India's Union New and Renewable Energy Minister, Pralhad Joshi, unveiled that India has achieved its highest-ever green energy capacity expansion, adding 31.25 GW this fiscal year, with solar power contributing 24.28 GW.

Joshi highlighted India's rapid rise in renewable energy, transforming from a nation with 2.8 GW solar power to an astounding 130 GW in just 11 years. This period between 2022 and 2024 saw India contribute significantly to global solar initiatives, marking it as the third-largest contributor globally.

Despite possessing substantial coal reserves, India prioritizes balancing traditional and renewable energy sources to maintain its competitive edge in the global market. With production costs much lower in solar power, India is set to emerge as a major player in sustainable energy and manufacturing.
