Nearing the brink of collapse, 4,300 MW of solar power capacity in Rajasthan experiences complete daytime curtailment. Inadequate transmission infrastructure places solar projects worth Rs 20,000 crore in jeopardy, industry insiders reveal.
Twenty-six solar projects, including those from Adani and ReNew, are grappling with transmission challenges as they operate under the temporary general network access (T-GNA) framework. Despite new transmission line additions, the capacity remains insufficient to meet project needs.
Industry advocates urge the government to implement relief measures like Special Protection Schemes and reallocating unused transmission margins to ensure projects aren't left stranded. Innovative solutions are necessary to prevent a growing systemic risk as renewable energy capacity exceeds transmission growth.
