In a devastating incident, three members of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) perished and another was critically injured following an accidental Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonation in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district. The explosion occurred during a de-mining operation near the Kanker-Narayanpur boundary on Saturday, according to officials.

The blast is believed to have been caused by an IED planted earlier by Maoist insurgents. The explosion injured four DRG personnel, identifying Inspector Sukhram Vatti, Constable Krishna Komra, and Constable Sanjay Gadhpale, all of whom died at the scene. Constable Parmanand Komra suffered severe injuries and is currently under medical care.

Bastar Range Inspector General of Police, P. Sundarraj, acknowledged the successful neutralization of many IEDs in recent months. He described the incident as a 'tragic accident' during ongoing operations to ensure regional safety. This follows a recent encounter in April where a wanted Naxal commander was killed.
