Punjab Power Minister Sanjeev Arora convened a meeting on Tuesday to evaluate and address the extensive damage inflicted on the state's electricity distribution infrastructure by recent storms. Heavy rains and high winds on May 3 severely affected districts such as Mohali, Patiala, and Ludhiana.

The meeting, attended by senior officials of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), revealed significant damage to the distribution network, disrupting around 1,300 feeders and impacting numerous poles and transformers. However, the 66 kV transmission system largely withstood the storm.

Minister Arora lauded the PSPCL teams for their swift response, resolving over 83,000 complaints and restoring power within 24 hours in most cases. He stressed the importance of strengthening disaster preparedness and ensuring no delays in future restorations, emphasizing the government's commitment to reliable power supply.
