Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday clarified why the IPL 2026 final was moved from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad, citing the larger stadium capacity in Ahmedabad as the key reason. He dismissed any connections to allegations regarding ticket distribution to MLAs, stating that the goal was to accommodate a larger audience and ensure wider public access to the match.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the IPL 2026 final, originally slated for M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, will now be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31. Despite ongoing investigations into alleged black-market ticket sales for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) matches in the IPL, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has distanced itself from these allegations, emphasizing its non-involvement in ticket distribution.

In local political dynamics, the Congress party has decided to back Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Tamil Nadu to counter the BJP and strengthen secular forces. TVK has become the single-largest party in Tamil Nadu, securing 108 seats in its debut Assembly election. Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar also commented on their visit to Delhi, noting they will only travel when summoned by the party high command.
