Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pratul Shahdeo reaffirmed the party's commitment to achieving a 'Congress-free India' as he expressed confidence in their victory in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand, slated for June 18. Shahdeo revealed that all preparatory procedures have been complete and emphasized the party's determination to challenge the 'outsider' candidate that Congress has introduced. According to Shahdeo, the BJP is poised to deliver a surprising move in the elections, adamant that their victory is inevitable.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has announced MLA Baidyanath Ram as their candidate, as Congress plans to field party secretary Pranav Jha for the Upper House polls. Initially set on contesting both seats, JMM reached a seat-sharing compromise with its ally, Congress, with the JMM deciding to allocate one seat to them. Party leader Manoj Pandey lauded Chief Minister Hemant Soren for maintaining coalition values and ensuring both parties fielded candidates in the Rajya Sabha elections.

In a related development, Pratul Shahdeo criticized Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee's visit to Delhi for the INDIA bloc meeting, labeling the alliance as defeated and battered. He opined that Banerjee's leadership has waned, likening her to a leader without a robust party. Shahdeo asserted that Banerjee, once considering independent electoral contests, now emerges as a significant player after her party's setbacks alongside mentioning the dwindling influence of remaining Congress MPs.
