In a tragic incident near the Strait of Hormuz, two Indian sailors have been confirmed dead, with one still missing. The attack targeted a commercial vessel, and the Forward Seamen's Union of India (FSUI) reports that communication with the ship has been severely hampered. Details are still emerging as authorities work to piece together the events.
General Secretary of FSUI, Manoj Yadav, shared that efforts to re-establish contact with the vessel have proved unsuccessful. Yadav stated, "The latest information indicates the death of two sailors, while the Chief Engineer remains missing." He noted that the affected sailors hail from various Indian states, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh.
The U.S. naval forces, according to Yadav, should have been aware of the nationalities aboard the vessels, suggesting detention as a potential alternative action. Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the assault, confirming that out of 24 Indian crew members, 21 have been rescued, with three still unaccounted for. The ministry highlighted the broader security concerns in the region and called for de-escalation and diplomatic negotiations.
