For economically disadvantaged families in Gujarat, a cancer diagnosis no longer means an end to hope. The Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) has become a significant lifeline, offering financial support to those in dire need, officials said on Sunday.

Between 2021 and 2025, the CMRF, operated by the state government, has distributed more than Rs 31.55 crore to 2,106 cancer patients. This effort has substantially improved healthcare access for the economically weaker sections, providing relief during times of crisis, including natural disasters, accidents, and severe health issues.

Highlighting the fund's impact, officials stated that it provides much-needed financial aid for critical illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, kidney and liver failure, and organ transplants. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the fund has facilitated timely, lifesaving treatments, including for 450 blood cancer patients. The initiative ensures that eligible individuals with annual income below Rs 4 lakh can apply for such assistance, thus standing as a beacon of hope and support.
