Nepal Seeks Strategic Talks with India at BIMSTEC Summit

Nepal has reached out to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a possible meeting on the fringes of the forthcoming BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, an official from Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed.
According to the official, who spoke under condition of anonymity, the request for a dialogue between the leaders awaits India's confirmation. The Ministry also announced Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to Thailand, host of the sixth edition of the BIMSTEC Summit.
Prime Minister Oli's historic trip, scheduled from April 1-5, 2025, marks the first official visit by a Nepali Prime Minister to Thailand. It includes discussions with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and participation in the Summit, potentially featuring bilateral talks with leaders from other BIMSTEC member states.
