In a significant diplomatic engagement, India and Russia reiterated their resolve to enhance cooperation in tackling global challenges like terrorism and climate change. During the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned terrorist activities in both nations, including incidents in Jammu and Kashmir and Moscow.
The leaders called for robust measures against UN-designated terrorist groups, delivering a stern message against terrorism in all forms. They stressed the urgent need for the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations and advocated for a zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
On the climate front, India and Russia expressed a commitment to the Paris Agreement, focusing on low-carbon technologies and sustainable finance. Both countries welcomed initiatives like the BRICS Climate Research Platform, indicating a strong partnership in climate and global peace efforts.
