Australia and India Deepen Ties at AI Impact Summit, Marking 20 Years of Collaboration

The visit aims to strengthen Australia’s AI ecosystem while celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund.

In a decisive step towards strengthening international collaboration in emerging technologies, Australia's Assistant Minister for Science, Technology, and the Digital Economy, Andrew Charlton, is set to visit India for the AI Impact Summit. This event underscores Australia's commitment to fostering partnerships and enhancing its AI infrastructure.
The Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources revealed that Charlton plans to address the significance of incorporating the voice of workers as AI adoption accelerates. Highlighting Australia as a preferred partner for sustainable AI investments, he will engage with diplomats from the US, UK, Canada, and India to further Australia's interests. Meetings with tech industry leaders are also on his agenda.
This initiative is aligned with the Albanese Labor Government's plans, particularly the development of an AI Safety Institute to foster international cooperation. Notably, this visit coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund, celebrating years of joint innovation and bilateral achievements in scientific research.
