The Indian Union government made history by sanctioning the first-ever all-women battalion for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), acknowledging the increasing demands in VIP security and protection of key installations.
Official sources confirmed that the unit, featuring more than 1,000 personnel, will be formed from the existing sanctioned manpower of approximately two lakh members. Preparations for recruitment and specialized training for these women, who will serve as elite commandos, are already underway.
This initiative, inspired by directives from Union home minister Amit Shah, seeks to increase female representation in the force and inspire more aspiring young women to join CISF. The addition is anticipated to play a key role in reinforcing both temporary and permanent security duties nationwide.
