In a significant development, eleven Naxalites, including a senior cadre leader, laid down their arms before Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Gadchiroli. The collective surrender underlines the waning influence of Naxalism in the region.
Fadnavis praised the efforts of security forces, specifically the C-60 commandos, for their crucial roles in diminishing the Naxal threat. The chief minister expressed confidence in making Gadchiroli one of Maharashtra's first Naxal-free districts.
Gadchiroli witnesses a new era with infrastructure projects like the Gatta-Gardewada-Wangeturi road expanding connectivity. Promising economic growth, thousands of jobs are expected from upcoming mining ventures, with further plans for an airport and better waterway links.
