Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah countered the BJP's assertion that the Kashmir issue was settled with the repeal of Article 370. He pointed out that part of the former state remains under Pakistani occupation.
Abdullah emphasized that while one aspect of the Kashmir issue may seem addressed, the matter extends beyond the Line of Control, touching on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
He urged reflection on whether the entire dispute, including areas across the border, is genuinely resolved. In backing his viewpoint, National Conference leaders referred to a 1994 parliamentary resolution urging Pakistan to vacate occupied Jammu and Kashmir territories.
