Trump's TikTok Tango: Extending the U.S. Ban Deadline
President Donald Trump is considering extending the 75-day ban on TikTok, while negotiating a deal to keep the app in the U.S. He emphasizes its role in his election win and sees mutual interest with China for the sale. The app's future remains uncertain.

President Donald Trump is contemplating an extension of the 75-day ban on the short-video app TikTok, expressing optimism about a potential deal to secure its operations in the United States. Trump highlighted the app's influence, attributing part of his electoral victory to its outreach among young voters.
Since the legislation mandating ByteDance's sale of TikTok on national security grounds took effect, the app's fate has been tenuous. After assuming office, Trump signed an executive order to delay enforcement for 75 days. He now suggests potential negotiation room, while not seeing an urgent need for further delays.
With multiple interested parties eyeing TikTok, Trump remains hopeful about a satisfactory resolution. He believes an agreement benefiting both U.S. interests and China's economy is possible, thus prompting Chinese President Xi Jinping's approval for the sale to a U.S. company.
