Kash Patel: From Anand to the Top of the FBI
Kash Patel, an Indian-American with roots in Bhadran village, Gujarat, has been confirmed by the US Senate as head of the FBI, becoming the first Indian-American to lead this agency. Patel's family migrated from India to Uganda decades ago and later settled in Canada and the USA.

Kash Patel, an Indian-American, has made history by becoming the first individual of his ethnic background to be appointed as the head of the FBI by the US Senate. Patel, who was born in New York, traces his familial roots to Bhadran village in Gujarat's Anand district.
According to members of the Patidar community, Patel's family migrated from India to Uganda 70 to 80 years ago. They later moved to Canada and eventually settled in the United States. The family, upon leaving Bhadran, sold their ancestral properties and integrated into communities abroad.
Before his appointment, Patel served as the Chief of Staff to Acting Secretary of Defence Christopher Miller. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and a law degree from University College London. An avid ice-hockey fan, Patel symbolizes the emerging influence of Indian-Americans in global leadership roles.
