In preparation for upcoming festivals like Holi and Eid, the Bareilly police are ramping up efforts to maintain law and order by placing a strong emphasis on social media monitoring, announced officials on Tuesday.
Rakesh Singh, the Inspector General of Police in the Bareilly range, has demanded that all personnel in the media cell be adept at social media operations. A 24/7 surveillance network is now in place, with teams dedicated to tracking news channels, social media sites, and WhatsApp groups.
The initiative includes forming an integrated WhatsApp group to share critical updates across districts to pre-empt any potential public disruptions. To counter misinformation, senior officers are tasked with debunking rumors and misleading posts swiftly. Efforts will also focus on highlighting police accomplishments, particularly by women officers at Women Help Desks.
