In a decisive move to combat unauthorized drug sales, the Delhi government has mandated that medical shops in the south district install CCTV cameras. This requirement targets shops selling specific medicine categories and aims to curb unauthorized prescription drug sales.
The measure, endorsed during a July 29 meeting involving the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) and south district authorities, has been deemed essential to monitor and prevent the misuse of dual-use medications. Installation of surveillance cameras is a preventive step to enhance oversight in these medical facilities.
Authorities caution that shops failing to comply with the order will face legal consequences. Sub-divisional magistrates, along with police and drug inspectors, have been tasked with ensuring enforcement across South Delhi.
