Congress leader Anil Akkara has made appeals to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Union Finance Ministry, urging legal proceedings against Vivek Kiran, the son of Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, for not attending a questioning session regarding the 2023 Life Mission project scam.
The Life Mission scam involves constructing apartments in Wadakkancherry, Thrissur, financed by the UAE Red Crescent for those affected by the 2018 Kerala floods. It is alleged by the ED that Unitac Builders, responsible for the project, distributed Rs 4.5 crore in commissions to middlemen, including state figures.
Akkara's plea includes tracing Khaled Mohamed Ali Shoukry, absconding former Finance Head at the UAE Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram, emphasizing the need for ED's prompt intervention to bring all accused to justice. Controversy arises as state officials dismiss the allegations as politically motivated.
