In a strategic move following recent security incidents, Poland has decided to raise the threat level on select railway lines. The decision comes in the wake of an explosion that compromised a railway track leading to Ukraine. Military forces have been tasked with safeguarding key infrastructure.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the escalation to a third threat level, known as Charlie, as advised by the head of the Internal Security Agency and the interior minister. This action is a precaution against potential terrorist threats, he told parliament.
While certain rail routes will be under heightened surveillance, the rest of the nation will continue to operate under the second alert level as authorities remain vigilant and responsive to the evolving situation.
