An international phone-snatching racket has been dismantled with the arrest of three men and the recovery of 103 stolen mobile phones, according to police reports. The gang, connected to a smuggling network, primarily targeted pedestrians while using stolen vehicles equipped with fake or concealed number plates.

Operating with dangerous precision, the group bypassed phone security by exploiting predictable PINs and patterns. This allowed them access to UPI accounts and digital wallets, leading to unauthorized transactions amounting to lakhs. The seized stolen phones were eventually smuggled to Nepal for resale after being bulk-processed.

The operation was spearheaded by two known criminals, Kishan alias Kishor alias Golu and Mohit alias Badshah, with a third accomplice, Rohit, facilitating the phone handover to a handler across the border. Police investigations have so far recovered 103 smartphones and crucial evidence, with further efforts ongoing to apprehend additional associates.
