In a landmark agreement to reduce violence in Colombia, the government and the Clan del Golfo crime gang have reached a consensus during negotiations held in Qatar. The accord stipulates that starting March 1, members of the group will gather in three designated areas.
According to a government statement released on Friday, two of these areas are situated in the Pacific province of Choco, while the third area is in the neighboring province of Cordoba.
This initiative marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to curb crime and bring peace to the Andean nation, which has been plagued by long-standing conflict.
