A Chinese individual, Hu Congtai, has been deported from India to Hong Kong. Authorities accused him of breaching his visa's terms, having visited sensitive areas in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. Officials confirmed his deportation last Thursday, emphasizing that he was blacklisted following a thorough check of his mobile phone for any potential security threats.
Hu entered India on November 19 using a tourist visa, with authorized destinations including significant Buddhist sites. Nevertheless, he strayed to regions not covered by his visa, embarking on a flight to Leh on November 20, bypassing required registration procedures. His failure to report his presence was spotted, leading to his detention after local military detected suspect online activity.
Hu explored key strategic locales in Ladakh before transitioning to Srinagar in early December. During questioning, he professed ignorance of overstepping visa limitations, offering an account of global travels, which includes his academic history from Boston University in the U.S. Despite his denials, substantial scrutiny of Hu's digital trails prompted Indian authorities to enforce his removal from the country.
