In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) arrested two brothers accused of trafficking Fensidyl cough syrup and other codeine-based narcotics. The arrests were made in Lucknow, officials confirmed, flagging a substantial illegal trade operation run by the duo.
The arrested individuals, Abhishek and Shubham Sharma, allegedly orchestrated their activities through a deceptive network of fake firms, manipulating emblematic brands such as Abbott, stretching their illicit operations across various regions including Bihar and reaching as far as Bangladesh.
STF officials underscore the involvement of high-profile individuals, including a chartered accountant who aided the creation of sham firms to facilitate the trade. The duo's capture came after strategic surveillance and intelligence shared by local forces, shining a light on a complex narcotics distribution web.
