Turkey opposes military intervention in Iran and seeks to prevent destabilization, according to Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Amidst Iran's crackdown on protests and U.S. threats, Turkey emphasizes dialogue and diplomatic initiatives to resolve tensions. Ankara remains committed to avoiding violence and supports peaceful conflict resolution.
Turkey has reiterated its opposition to any military intervention in Iran, emphasizing diplomacy to maintain stability, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Thursday. With Iran in turmoil following severe protests, Fidan's remarks highlight Ankara's commitment to dialogue over force.
In light of U.S. President Donald Trump's threats to support Iranian protesters, tensions have escalated between Tehran and Washington. However, Turkey has engaged in communication with both Iran and the U.S. to encourage negotiations. Fidan emphasized that Turkey's top priority is to avoid further destabilization in Iran and the region.
At a press conference in Istanbul, Fidan expressed Turkey's desire for Iran and the U.S. to find peaceful solutions. He also clarified that there has been no U.S. presidential decision forcing Turkey to reconsider its stance on tariffs related to Iranian business dealings.
