A wave of unrest swept through Murshidabad district of West Bengal as violent protests erupted over the death of Alauddin Sheikh, a migrant worker. Large groups of locals blocked railway tracks and National Highway-12, crippling transportation and leaving passengers stranded for hours, according to police reports.
The protests grew heated as demonstrators vandalised property and clashed with police, resulting in at least 12 injuries, including those of media personnel. The unrest was sparked by allegations that Sheikh was murdered, with his death staged to appear as a suicide, triggering widespread anger among villagers.
