Sundargarh town witnessed a return to normalcy on Friday, following a disruptive clash between two groups that left a dozen people injured. The unrest had led authorities to impose a curfew and suspend internet services, as confirmed by official sources.
The altercation took place in the bustling Regent Market area over a disagreement concerning a food item, escalating to violence that involved some police personnel. In response, Section 163 of BNS was enacted, and all educational and commercial operations were halted for 24 hours.
Post-conflict, peace talks involving key stakeholders facilitated the lifting of restrictions and restoration of internet services. Sundargarh's collector announced educational institutions would resume, while nighttime police presence remains to prevent further incidents. Police are actively pursuing those identified in the altercation.
