In Bareilly district, law enforcement officials detained twelve individuals following their involvement in an unauthorized prayer gathering at a vacant house. Officials reported that a video capturing the event has been circulating across social media platforms.
According to SP (South) Anshika Verma, the detention was a precautionary measure prompted by reports from Mohammedganj village. An empty house was reportedly being used as a temporary madrasa without proper authorization. 'Strict measures will be implemented against any religious activities conducted without permission,' she stressed, appealing for public cooperation in maintaining order.
The detained individuals faced charges related to breach of peace and were subsequently granted bail by a magistrate. Efforts are ongoing to locate three individuals who remain at large. Initial investigations revealed the house belongs to a person named Hanif and was used regularly for Friday prayers, without any legal documentation.
