Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, missed a crucial court appearance regarding a defamation case that has been ongoing since 2018. The case involves allegations over objectionable remarks made against then BJP president Amit Shah, filed by BJP functionary Vijay Mishra.
Despite being scheduled to appear, Gandhi's counsel, Kashi Prasad Shukla, informed the court that Gandhi was engaged in commitments in Kerala. Consequently, the MP-MLA court adjourned the hearing to February 20, providing Gandhi a final chance to appear in person.
The court has witnessed several proceedings over the years including a warrant issued for Gandhi's non-appearance in December 2023, later resolved when he appeared and secured bail. The case saw further developments with witness testimonies, as the court delves deeper into the allegations.
