Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat remarked that India's identity on the global stage has transformed, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi now perceived as its leading brand ambassador. This shift contrasts with the past when Mahatma Gandhi was predominantly recognized as the nation's figurehead internationally.

In a conversation with PTI, Shekhawat noted that while India's culture — its rich heritage, festivals, and cuisine — continues to define its identity, the influential role of a leader like Modi has significantly shaped the country’s image abroad. This changing perception is expected to contribute positively towards India's tourism sector, potentially increasing foreign visitors from 10 crore to 100 crore by 2047. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of cultivating India's brand identity on a global scale, transitioning from 'Incredible India' to 'Inevitable India.'

Discussing strategic importance, he pointed out that tourism, under Modi's proactive leadership, is on a path to gaining critical prominence similar to the IT sector. Shekhawat conveyed optimism that India's international missions are now prioritizing tourism as a vital parameter for assessing performance.
