Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya proclaimed on Monday that elections are won by the party's efforts, not by governmental power. Speaking at the BJP's Backward Classes Morcha meeting, Maurya's remarks come weeks after his controversial statement about the party's supremacy over the government.
Maurya highlighted past election victories, stressing that these were achieved without relying on governmental strength. He urged party workers to correct past mistakes and prepare for a decisive win in the 2027 UP Assembly elections.
His comments followed internal dissent within the BJP over the recent Lok Sabha poll defeats and speculated friction with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A viral video showing apparent discontent among party leaders was dismissed as 'fake' by a senior BJP official.
