Eighteen BJP MLAs from Jharkhand were suspended from the assembly till 2 PM on August 2, and forcefully removed by marshals after they refused to vacate the premises on Thursday.
Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto's decision came after the BJP members created a ruckus in the House, protesting against the previous day's eviction of opposition MLAs by marshals and Chief Minister Hemant Soren's refusal to address their concerns.
Leader of the Opposition, Amar Bauri, accused the state government of dictatorship and alleged that democracy was being undermined. He vowed that their party would 'uproot' the current government. The Assembly Ethics Committee will probe the matter and submit a report within a week.
