US Denies Involvement in Bangladesh PM Hasina's Ousting Amid Political Turmoil
The White House firmly denies any involvement in the ousting of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Amidst growing allegations, a spokesperson clarified that the U.S. had no role in the political upheaval. Hasina recently left Bangladesh, following student protests and a controversial election win.
The White House categorically denied any involvement in the ousting of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who recently resigned and fled the country. Reports of U.S. interference are unfounded, according to White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre.
Earlier, Hasina was reported by India's Economic Times to have accused the U.S. of orchestrating her removal to gain control over the strategic Saint Martin island. However, her son, Sajeeb Wazed, refuted these claims in a social media post.
An interim government led by Nobel Peace laureate Muhammad Yunus was sworn in to stabilize the nation and facilitate elections, following widespread protests. Hasina's recent election win had been boycotted by opposition parties, casting doubts on its legitimacy.
