BJP Challenges Congress with a Call to Learn 'True History'
The BJP has urged the Congress to revisit India's 'true history' by focusing on figures like Sardar Patel and Subhas Bose instead of the Nehru-Gandhi family. This demand follows controversy over naming new Delhi University campuses after Veer Savarkar, a Hindutva ideologue.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called on the Congress party to broaden its historical perspectives beyond the Nehru-Gandhi lineage, advocating that the opposition learns from a more inclusive historical narrative.
At a media briefing, former Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticized the Congress for its focus on the Nehru-Gandhi family, suggesting alternatives that include other prominent leaders like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Subhas Chandra Bose. He also proposed renaming institutions to reflect this broader perspective.
The remarks come amid tensions, as Congress leaders object to the BJP naming Delhi University campuses after figures like Veer Savarkar, whom they accuse of being too closely affiliated with colonial interests.
