The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has organized a protest on March 17 at Delhi's Jantar Mantar against the proposed Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024. Speaking at a press conference, AIMPLB spokesperson Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas stated that the government seeks to create divisions between Hindus and Muslims, potentially leading to unrest across the nation.

Ilyas explained that protests have been ongoing, but the March 13 demonstration was rescheduled to March 17 due to Holi. The event invites support from all communities and MPs, emphasizing the need for allied parties to oppose the BJP's stance on the bill. Claiming the government spreads hatred, Ilyas expressed hope for broader political backing.

AIMPLB's General Secretary, Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, reiterated their failed attempts to negotiate with the government through democratic means. Highlighting their concern over the bill's implications for unregistered Waqf properties, Mujaddidi accused the government of misleading citizens and pursuing divisive policies. In parallel, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the Joint Parliamentary Committee's handling of the bill, claiming it bypassed essential debates and dissenting voices.
