Thackeray Criticizes BJP: Unkept Promises in Maharashtra's Budget

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti government over the state budget, accusing it of reneging on manifesto promises. In a media briefing, Thackeray described the government's conduct as 'absolutely shameless.'

Thackeray criticized the lack of implementation of key election promises such as the 'Ladli Behna' scheme and farmer loan waivers. Meanwhile, opposition MLAs staged protests outside the Maharashtra assembly, condemning the government's alleged failure to allocate funds for welfare initiatives in the budget.

Maharashtra's Finance and Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, presented the state budget for the fiscal year 2025-26. Despite facing criticism, he emphasized infrastructure projects including the Vadhavan Port development and a proposed new airport near Mumbai, while detailing financial support schemes targeting women, scheduled caste communities, and backward classes.
