President Donald Trump announced hopes for Russian cooperation on a ceasefire plan formed by the U.S. and Ukraine. Trump revealed intentions for U.S. officials to meet with Russian counterparts either Tuesday or Wednesday.
During a press briefing, Trump mentioned inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy back to the White House. The leaders had a contentious Oval Office meeting last month, after which Zelenskiy left without signing a key minerals agreement with the United States.
Trump is optimistic that a complete ceasefire can be finalized in the ongoing three-year conflict within the next few days. He anticipates discussing the matter with Russian President Vladimir Putin within the week.
