Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, a staunch critic of BJP's internal 'dynasty politics', has been expelled from the party for six years. This decision comes after he continually voiced opposition against prominent BJP figures, former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and his son B Y Vijayendra, accusing them of nepotism and corruption.
The BJP's Central Disciplinary Committee, after reviewing Yatnal's responses to multiple show-cause notices, cited his repeated breach of party discipline as the reason for his removal. Yatnal, unfazed by his expulsion, declared his ongoing commitment to combating corruption and advocating for reforms within the party and the development of North Karnataka.
Yatnal's actions, including mobilizing Lingayat leaders and planning rallies against the Waqf Act, were perceived by the state BJP leadership as a challenge to their authority. His expulsion sparked discussions about intra-party dynamics and Yatnal's future political aspirations.
