A bomb explosion in Kaliganj, West Bengal, claimed the life of 13-year-old Tammana Khatun on Monday afternoon, amid celebrations following the bypoll results of the Kaliganj Assembly seat. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee immediately ordered the police to take stringent action against the perpetrators involved in the violent incident.
The explosion occurred in the backdrop of local group rivalry, escalating after Trinamool Congress candidate Alifa Ahmed won the bypolls by a substantial margin. Police identified and arrested Akhtar Sheikh for suspected involvement, while a forensic examination is set to determine the type of bomb that caused the tragic incident.
