The UDF's victory in the Nilambur assembly by-election is being hailed as a first step towards reclaiming power in Kerala. The opposition UDF in Kerala is celebrating its decisive win in the Nilambur assembly by-election, declaring it a key step in their strategy to regain power after next year's assembly polls. The ruling Left Front, however, accuses the Congress-led alliance of depending on communal votes for their success.
UDF leaders credited candidate Aryadan Shoukath's victory to robust teamwork and a prevailing anti-incumbency sentiment in the state. Former Defence Minister A K Antony declared that the current state government is now merely a caretaker.
While independent candidate P V Anvar performed strongly, securing 19,760 votes, the UDF's win is seen as part of a larger trend against the Vijayan administration. However, political allegiances and support from communal forces remain points of contention among parties.
