The Congress party in Arunachal Pradesh has accused Panchayat Minister Ojing Tasing of using intimidation tactics to sway voters in the run-up to the state's December 15 panchayat and municipal elections.
According to the Congress, Tasing suggested that government schemes and funds would be denied in areas where BJP candidates were unsuccessful, a statement the party argues is tantamount to voter intimidation and a misuse of official power.
The Congress has requested the State Election Commission to take immediate action against Tasing, stressing the importance of preventing the use of government resources for political purposes and ensuring free and fair elections.
