Suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir is preparing for a grand foundation-stone ceremony for a 'Babri Masjid-style' mosque in Murshidabad, West Bengal. The event, slated for December 6, has transformed the venue into a large-scale worksite, with tight security in place and Saudi clerics expected to attend.
The gathering aims to draw nearly 300,000 people to the site near Moradighi, with extensive preparations underway. Seven local catering agencies are set to provide food for thousands, with a total budget estimated at around Rs 60-70 lakh. The elaborate dais, prominently rising over paddy fields, will accommodate approximately 400 guests.
Authorities are on high alert with nearly 3,000 police personnel deployed to ensure public order and manage traffic on NH-12, a major highway prone to congestion. Kabir intends the event as a significant mobilization effort and a symbol of resilience despite internal political friction within the ruling TMC.
