Honduras Awaits Election Results: A Nation on Edge
Impatience is mounting in Honduras due to a lack of updates on the national election results. With the presidential race extremely close and results pending, voters express frustration and distrust in the electoral process. The delay is attributed to tabulating platform issues, calling for expedited solutions.
In Honduras, tension is mounting as the electoral commission remains silent nearly 48 hours after the national elections, leaving the presidential race too close to decide.
As of Friday afternoon, the National Party's Nasry Asfura led with 40.19%, narrowly ahead of Salvador Nasralla from the Liberal Party at 39.49%. Rixi Moncada of LIBRE followed with 19.30%, amid reports of 14% ballot inconsistencies. Voters' patience is being tested as updates stall over the weekend.
Voters like Gabriela Osorio, a dentist from Siguatepeque, express growing frustration over the stagnant vote count. Despite a peaceful election day, the delayed results have fueled distrust in the CNE, with residents and observers demanding expedited tallying. Technical issues with the tabulation platform are partly to blame, prompting a call from the Organization of American States for swift resolution.
