Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing critique of the Opposition, accusing them of unfounded criticism regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. According to Shah, this strategy is an attempt to retain illegal immigrants on the voter lists amid electoral reform discussions in the Lok Sabha.
During a heated debate, he highlighted instances of alleged electoral inconsistencies by Congress leaders Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi. Shah claimed that the ongoing issues in Congress are due to its leadership, not election-related malpractices like EVM tampering.
Defending the SIR, Shah argued that its purpose is to ensure clean elections by removing deceased voters and illegal entrants. The minister emphasized that past reforms have always aimed at upholding democracy, while the Opposition's current rhetoric only tarnishes its image.
