West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called for a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry into the tragic death of Ajit Pawar in a recent plane crash. Banerjee expressed her distrust in existing investigative authorities, stating that they have been compromised and only a Supreme Court probe would yield credible results.
In her statement to the press on Wednesday, Banerjee emphasized, 'We trust only the Supreme Court. All other agencies have been completely compromised.' Her comments came as she prepared to depart for Singur.
The crash, which occurred near Baramati in Pune district, claimed the life of Pawar, who served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, along with four other passengers on board the ill-fated flight.
